I saw my own fund, Abingworth, develop as a leader in Life Sciences as that sector became a specialism within Venture. I now see Cleantech emerging in the same way, and a similar opportunity for ETF.

Former Chairman of British Venture Capital Association with deep involvement in many aspects of Venture Capital in the UK. David is one of Europe's most experienced practitioners in venture capital. He spent 13 years with 3i (1969-82) and subsequently 24 years with Abingworth, a leading investor in Life Sciences and Bio-technology, as a Director, Managing Director and latterly as non-executive Chairman.
David is a former Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association. He was a member of the Stock Exchange Smaller Companies Working Party which led to the creation of AIM, and of H.M. Treasury Working Party on the Financing of High Technology Companies. David was co-author of the first ‘Guidelines for the Valuation and Disclosure of Venture Capital Portfolios’ (since revised) and of the first ‘BVCA Performance Measurement Survey’ - now published annually.
