David is Chairman of ETF, focusing on governance and Investor relations. He brings over 40 years' experience of venture capital investing in Europe and the USA.

David is also Chairman of Abingworth, the life science venture firm of which he was previously the Managing Director. He currently chairs the UK Government’s Capital for Enterprise Limited and RCM Technology Trust plc. He is also a Director on a number of Boards and a Director and Trustee of Medical Research Council Technology.

David is a former Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association. He was a member of the Stock Exchange Smaller Companies Working Party, which led to the creation of AIM, and of H.M. Treasury Working Party on the Financing of High Technology Companies. David was co-author of the first ‘Guidelines for the Valuation and Disclosure of Venture Capital Portfolios’ and of the first ‘BVCA Performance Measurement Survey’ - now published annually.
